Though Jacksonville may be better known for its business community and its beaches, this thriving, young city has an exciting arts scene, as well. Jax has more than a dozen museums to visit, ranging from modern art to science and history. The performing arts are also alive and well in Jacksonville, home to the largest symphony orchestra in Florida. And theater buffs can catch the latest Broadway hits at the Times-Union Center for the Performing Arts and more than 200 performances of all kinds each year at the Florida Theatre. The city is a hub for makers and hosts a monthly Artwalk, numerous craft festivals and so much more. Fun Fact: Jacksonville is “The Birthplace of Southern Rock,” which is probably why the city hosts numerous music festivals throughout the year, including an impressive jazz festival.
