From strong Pre-K programs to standout high schools and continuing education, the search for top Florida schools remains a priority for many families. The Nassau County School District has emerged as a clear leader. Situated just north of Jacksonville, it was recently named the top school district in the state for the 2024-2025 academic year. Let’s explore what Tributary residents appreciate about their neighborhood district.
The Nassau County School District comprises 17 schools serving roughly 12,400 students across Fernandina Beach, Yulee, Callahan, Hilliard, and Bryceville. In addition to its top school district ranking, every single one of its 17 schools earned an individual A grade from the Florida Department of Education. Nassau County also topped statewide performance in several areas, including Algebra, science, U.S. history, and civics.
Innovation is also a key focus for the Nassau County School District. Recently, the district was awarded a $50,000 STEM grant through Florida Power & Light Company’s Classroom Makeover Grant program. Rather than transforming individual classrooms, Nassau County plans to convert a bus into a mobile STEM lab that can visit every school. Technology plays a central role in daily instruction as well. Each student has access to platforms like Canvas for managing coursework, as well as Microsoft One Drive, Google Drive, and ClassLink.
Tributary residents are zoned for three highly rated public schools within the Nassau County School District. Wildlight Elementary serves Pre-K through 5th grade with strong academics and gifted programs. Yulee Middle builds on that foundation with advanced coursework, while Yulee High offers a wide range of academic and extracurricular opportunities to prepare students for college and careers. Higher education opportunities nearby include Florida State College of Jacksonville (FSCJ), University of North Florida (UNF), Jacksonville University (JU), and Flagler College.
There are several options nearby for adults looking to continue their education as well. The Nassau Adult High School offers GED prep, Adult Basic Education, and ESOL courses with flexible schedules at schools in Fernandina Beach, Yulee, Callahan, and Hilliard. In Yulee, the Betty P. Cook Nassau Center, part of FSCJ, hosts continuing education and workforce training programs, from computer skills and healthcare to trades and digital photography. UNF’s Professional and Lifelong Learning and JU’s UpSkill Institute also provides opportunities in technology, business, healthcare, legal studies, and personal development.
Beyond living in a top school district, Tributary residents also benefit from a fun-loving lifestyle in their own neighborhood. The Lookout Amenity Center is a central hub for fun, fitness, and connection. This resort-style space includes a pool, pickleball courts, a state-of-the-art fitness center, and a playground designed for everyday adventure. Even four-legged family members have their own spot to roam at the Pawsome Dog Park, featuring separate play areas and a custom obstacle course. Around here, “Livin’ on Tributary Time” means making the most of every moment.
Tributary features a diverse range of single-family homes, starting from the $400s, designed for all ages. Homes are crafted by top national builders, including David Weekley Homes and Lennar. Model homes are open daily for tours, offering a closer look at the community.
