The Best Summertime Activities for Kids

Posted on: June 11, 2021

Finding ways to keep kids entertained in the summer can be challenging, but Tributary residents have a variety of family-friendly activities waiting for them right in their backyard. Located in Nassau County, this new community is the perfect place for families to settle down and create lifelong memories. Being only a short drive from Jacksonville means you’ll also have access to some of the most popular summer spots. Water parks, summer camps and natural Florida adventures are all waiting to be uncovered! Here is our list of the best activities for kids this summer.

Explore Nature

Located just west along SR 200 from Tributary is Four Creeks State Forest. For a serene afternoon, bring your canoe and fishing pole and see what you can catch as you float along the creek. Those looking to burn some energy can bike, walk or run along the forest’s many trails. While your there, be sure to keep an eye out for white-tailed deer, wild turkey, gopher tortoise and the numerous songbirds that inhabit the forest.

If you want an educational experience that is perfect for any age group, explore the over 12,000 acres of wild at White Oak Conservation in North Yulee. White Oak hosts an array of inspiring informational programs and presentations on Florida’s ecosystem, wildlife conservation and species refuge. Kids (and adults) can stimulate their interests through live demonstrations and events, close-up wild animal viewings, or even a sunset safari experience.

Looking to stay in the neighborhood? Tributary will soon have you covered with a comprehensive trail system and a direct river-access point for kayaking and canoeing Boggy Creek and Nassau River. Through community green spaces and pocket parks, residents will enjoy a life surrounded by the beautiful greenery where you can connect to the outdoors and Explore More.

Make a Splash

A short drive East on State Road 200 will bring you to Fernandina Beach City Pool. This is the perfect place to go for a refreshing swim with friends or family. Kids will love splashing around in the shallow water Kiddie Pool that features a waterslide and several waterfall fountains, and parents will love the American Red Cross certified lifeguards stationed at each pool.

For a more scenic trip, you can visit Amelia Island State Park, a 200-acre array of “Florida au natural,” featuring saltmarshes, maritime forests and shoreline that sinks miles into the horizon. Dip your toes into the saltwater, picnic in the sugar sand and enjoy the local Florida flora and fauna. Located just over 20 miles East of Tributary and off SR A1A, this State Park is a local treasure.

If a private, resort-style pool sounds like it’s more up your alley, Tributary will soon offer just that. Set to be located at the highly anticipated Amenity Center, the community pool will be the perfect place for families to gather on a hot summer day. Entertain the kids without even leaving the neighborhood!

Play All Day

Nothing is on par more than 18 unique holes of miniature golf for the whole family to take a swing at. Located 10 miles East of Yulee, Island Falls Adventure Golf is surrounded by waterfalls, tunnels and bridges to test your putt-putt game. This leisurely but competitive experience is sure to excite, no caddy necessary.

For a day full of free fun, Tributary Regional Park will soon offer baseball and multipurpose fields, picnic areas, a playground, a dog park and a boardwalk with a canoe or kayak launch. There will be no better place in Nassau County for kids to let loose and play.

Another place for the kids within the community, Tributary’s Adventure Zone playground, will be a guaranteed favorite for children and adults alike. This play space will be where kids can let their imaginations run wild while parents socialize with neighbors.

With all these unique and exciting activities to enjoy in Nassau County, Tributary is creating a place where many young families are looking to set roots. Spanning 1,550 acres, Tributary offers a distinctive collection of new homes from the $300’s built by the area’s premier home builders, Dream Finders Homes, Lennar and Richmond American Homes. The community is located just 1.6 miles west of I-95 along A1A/SR 200 (the Amelia Island exit), and just 15 minutes south, you’ll find the Jacksonville International Airport and River City Marketplace, a major regional shopping, dining and entertainment destination.

The Model Home Village with 6 designer-decorated models are open daily to tour, so now’s the perfect time to stop by for a visit and experience Tributary’s natural lifestyle. You can also connect with us on Facebook and Instagram and be sure to check out our Community’s Digital Brochure which will give you an overview of the community and what’s to come!
